william has been an intriguing presence in sydneys music scene for over ten years, performing and releasing under several monikers including most recently, t.morimoto. as a producer and teacher he has inspired the work of artists such as seekae, cliques and cassius select. his ep annum contra is a diverse collection of percussive approaches and rhythmic studies that sees william moving in a dance floor friendly direction - whilst maintaining the idiosyncratic style he is known for. annum contra also features a handful of guests including lamtech9 and kid kairo

detroits jared wilson provides the 10th release for super rhythm trax and it lives up to it s title.
on *plate mining* and *idea of a deep state*, jared goes in deep with lush, strings that sooth you as the 303 works it s magic underneath. while *how deep* provides a brooding acid line and works the percussion. minimal but deadly.
jared has long been on the srtx want list after proving himself as a master craftsman with a slew of classy releases on his own 7777 label. super rhythm trax is overjoyed to have him on the roster being one of the most skilled knob twiddlers out there who knows how to work it but also and perhaps more importantly, when to hold back.

prolific doesn’t begin to describe japan’s keita sano, who has come seemingly out of nowhere to become one of the most unique new voices in electronic music thanks to a wildly eclectic clutch of releases for much-hyped labels like 1080p, joakim’s crowdspacer, mister saturday night, spring theory, discos capablanca and more. building on that buzz, sano is unleashing still more head-twisting takes on house and techno via new york’s most excellent unlimited. label boss paul raffaele has found a kindred spirit in sano. their shared love of classic dance music and refusal to let genre or convention define their work makes mxu a natural home for the “sunset ep,” coming as it does on the heels of the category-smashing “oyama edit” 12” and a 7” of drum track edits by disco king danny krivit.

the analog music project is a musical act that focus on building a coherent sound stage using only vintage musical instruments. its debut album odyssey features seven original themes, as well as covers from artists such as krafwerk, roy ayres and vangelis.  from electro-bossa to cosmic-swing, the projects revives and reinvents classic genres giving them a modern analog twist. when listening to odyssey, which was developed over two years of hard work, one can hear a fine selection  of exquisite musical instruments.

alex north’s work for ballet, symphony orchestra, television and film continues to stand the test of time almost 25 years after his death. although nominated 15 times for an academy award, it wasn’t until 1986 that he was finally given due recognition when a lifetime achievement oscar was bestowed upon him. but, as this soundtrack lp so amply demonstrates, his pioneering work on streetcar remains one of alex north’s crowning achievements.

herva is the artist name of hervè atsè corti. he lives in relative seclusion from the dance music world in the italian countryside around florence and is one of the most intriguing producers to work in house and techno for a while. his early musical life as a drummer, plus his extra-musical interests in engineering and electronics has informed a unique, freeform, and very tactile approach to dance music. its house and techno that doesnt adhere to the usual influences of detroit, chicago or berlin.

the second offering from freerotation brings the vinyl debut of irish born, london resident monoak. monoak’s distinctive style of gritty, melodic techno displays an artist engrossed in his work, wanting to take us on a unique journey into uncharted territory. melody and percussion interchange amongst a framework of deep, broken, pounding kicks, and sizzling highs. the resolute ep is brimming with tunes which stay firmly in your head, and exude a timeless quality, a rare thing these days from a new producer taking his first steps.

this is the first solo work by kwartz released by the warm up imprint. the young spanish talent displays all his production skills in this release that opens with the compact kick drums and arpeggiated madness of *rite*, spiced with sweeps and drones that interweave with the hypnotic arrangement. in his first rework, oscar mulero reduces the bass drum punch, twists the arpeggiated synth line with reverb and early reflections, and adds an overall guerrilla feel to the sound.

the long-awaited debut of alvin aronson, scientist-in-residence at white material. warm, sub-heavy grooves, with pristine, expert synth-work, and two subtly atmospheric interludes.

french composer and multi-instrumentalist pierre bastien delivers the latest entry into morphines increasingly diverse catalog. active for over four decades, bastien is best known for building automated orchestras, and his most recent lp, machinations, was released on aphex twin s rephlex label in 2012.
for this latest work, bastien recycled components of his silent motors live set and assembled new mechanical organisms—using amplified meccano parts, motors, fans, rattles, paper, and nails—to generate rhythmic scaffolding. live instrumentals, from prepared trumpets to the african kundi harp, javanese rabab, sanza, electric harpsichord, bass, drums, and gongs, were then superimposed on top.

felix dickinson and jaime read met in brighton in 1995 when jaime was producing music for felix’s label ugly music. united by a love of chicago house music they held a 5 yr residency together in their hometown brighton. during this time jaime continued to make music for felix’s label as well as on his own label push 2 shove under the moniker lhas (the larry heard appreciation society). they soon found homes for their tracks on doc martin’s wax records, the belgian label eskimo and felix’s new label cynic music. more recently they have released tracks for tsuba and rong as lhas inc. there is a remix by neville watson. you may know him for his work with kink or his releases on clone and creme.

the imogen label launched back in september with a pair of ilija rudman remixes of london acid jazz favourite brand new heavies. this second release sees them change tack somewhat, adopting an archival focus to dig out two tracks by croatian hero ilan kabiljo. known mostly for his 90s work, kabiljo comes from legendary croatian music stock - his father was composer and musician alfons alfi kabiljo. this expression 12inch sees imogen dig through the ilan archives for two rare and unreleased tracks records in 1990, with a side cut cool nights a supple midnight saunter through jazz funk that highlights kabiljo s compositional class. golden days is just as good as sounds like a loving homage to the 80s.

repress in blue vinyl !! the late french soundtrack composer (1939-1975) was one of the first to use frequency modulators on an 8 track homestudio. he was known for his melodic works mixing electronic & acoustic. his oeuvre has been sampled by many. this release devotes a posthumous work composed for a cousteau documentary which was refused, probably beacuse it was too avant-garde. on the second disc youll find different tasty style-exercises that show to what extend roubaix manipulated the modulators with ingenuity.

following up the fantastic summer re-release of upsetting keys “empathy” ep, path records follows with its first new catalogue number since 2006. path 008 marks the return of artist fate 258, whose 1999 “why 2k” path 001 ep has been a hotly sought after item on discogs. the three-track ep contains two exciting new mixes of cult classic techno track “the path”. the a-side version “path to hell” is the harder of the pair, a dark edgy journey into the unknown with shuffling 808 rhythms providing much of the melody. “path to heaven” slows the groove down and adds warm juno pads throughout the mix for a very deep detroit flavored techno style. on the final track “heaven or hell” sort of a broken beat downtempo piece, sparse vocals and bladerunner samples mix to complete the dystopian concept. these mixes of “the path” are considered pre-mixes, as they were completed in 1998 before the original release of path 001. fate 258 is a project from brooklyn producer reade truth, known for his work over the last decades on labels such as planet e, sonic groove, n-syde, wurst and strictly rhythm to name a few. limited to 250 worldwide, with the first 100 including full black and white cover art.
